John Smith – Pastor

Pastor John Smith smBro. John was born and raised in Southern California. He was led to the Lord at the age of 17 by his pastor. He and his wife Kelly were married in 1980 and have three children and three grandchildren.

In 1983 Bro. John announced his call to preach and surrendered to full-time Christian ministry at the Fundamental Baptist Church of Escondido, California under the leadership of Pastor Eldon Martens. In 1985 Bro. John and his family moved from Southern California to Chattanooga, Tennessee, to pursue his formal education and preparation for the ministry at Tennessee Temple University.

In 1988 Bro. John and his family moved from Chattanooga to Trenton, Georgia where he became the Youth Pastor at the Piney Grove Baptist Church. In 1992 the church extended a call to him as Pastor, where he continues to serve.

Under his leadership, our church has indeed been blessed by God in many ways. The Lord has called seven families out of our church as missionaries. Our church has also greatly expanded and relocated into the present five-acre campus with a new sanctuary, along with a Christian Educational Building, a Youth Building, and an Activity Center.

Joe Gaddis – Music Ministry

  • Over the years, church music has been a big part of my life.  Coordinating the music program at Piney is one of the highlights of my week.  Together, we lift praise to the Lord, encourage the congregation, and seek to help set the tone for the preaching of God’s Word.  If you are musically talented, we have a place for you to serve the Lord with your abilities.

Cliff and Faith Watkins – College and Young Adults Ministry

Mark and Sheri Dean –  Senior High Youth Ministry

  • Young people are the church of tomorrow.  Our youth program seeks to teach young people God’s Word and principles about how to live for God in this world.  We teach using the Bible as our primary text book.  It is amazing how hungry young people are for the things of God today.  We seek to build young lives so they can be leaders for the days ahead.

Joe Reed – Children’s Pastor

  • I have always had a heart to teach children God’s Word.  We don’t just babysit, but we use songs, Bible stories, videos, and much more to teach children about God.  We do not seek to replace the parent’s role, but to supplement and reinforce the godly principles Christian parents teach their children.  Children from many different home situations are always present in our services.  Our desire is to give them a foundation on which they can build a godly life.
